BEC Learning Series: Chicken Litter: The Sky is Falling!

Monday, July 13, 2020
6:30 PM - 7:30 PM

While unprecedented social restrictions make CBF's bimonthly Brock Environmental Center Learning Series impossible to do in-person for the time being, the issues remain as important as ever.  So we are moving this popular series online, increasing the number of available seats—and making the program monthly!

This month, we will explore very important but relatively unknown pollution issues emanating from the watershed-wide poultry industry. This program is perfectly timed to coincide with proposed changes to a permit that regulates poultry houses and will offer attendees an opportunity to weigh in on this critical issue.

Featured Speakers:

  • Dr. Beth McGee, CBF's Director of Science and Agricultural Policy. She has been at CBF since 2003 and is the lead policy advisor and coordinator on regional water quality and agricultural issues and campaigns.
  • Dr. Joe Wood, CBF's Virginia Senior Scientist. He works on agriculture, stormwater and wastewater policies and their influence on Bay health.
  • Jay Ford, CBF's Virginia Policy and Grassroots Advisor. He focuses on Eastern Shore issues in Virginia and works throughout the Commonwealth to advance clean water and environmental justice priorities.

We look forward to sharing this critical component of saving the Bay and answering your questions!

We're sorry, the deadline for buying tickets for this event has passed.
