VoiCeS 2019 Hampton Roads

Wednesday, October 16, 2019
5:45 PM - 7:45 PM
Jordan-Newby Anchor Branch Library at Broad Creek
1425 Norchester Avenue
Norfolk, VA 23504

This multi-week program is held on six consecutive Wednesday evenings (except for Tuesday, November 5) from 5:45-7:45 p.m., from October 16 through November 20, 2019. There will also be a field trip, to be scheduled.

CBF created the Volunteers as Chesapeake Stewards (VoiCeS) program in 2004 as a way to educate local individuals and communities to create a deeper understanding of environmental conservation, the Chesapeake Bay, and the efforts to restore it. VoiCeS is CBF's most in-depth adult education program available to its members and the public.

In this professionally taught course, you will learn about

  • pollution problems and solutions,
  • local geography and ecology,
  • Bay science and fisheries,
  • urban and rural pollution issues, and
  • how to play a personal role in restoration efforts in your community and the Bay watershed.

Participants are expected to attend at least five of the six classroom sessions, as well as a field trip, followed by a 40-hour service project of their own design (there is no time limit). Successful graduates receive CBF's designation as "Chesapeake Stewards."

This program always fills up as space is limited. So register today for a deep-dive exploration of Chesapeake Bay and clean water issues!

Materials fee (suggested contribution/not required): $20/individual, $35/couple

Registration deadline: October 15, 2019
