Over the last few months I have been on a personal journey of learning more about the ecosystems that surround our communities here in Hampton Roads. As an artist and arts educator I felt there was someway in which I could use my work to bring awareness and promote sustainability while preserving the Chesapeake Bay. In August of 2020 I began working with the Chesapeake Bay Foundation in hopes of learning more and gaining valuable experiences that would support my efforts. This relationship with the CBF has pushed me to become a creative making art for conservation, with their support 100% of the way.
I have recently completed three large scale collages in response to my experience of working with the Chesapeake Bay Foundation. I felt it was my duty to capture the humility, strength, and beauty of our local Bay ecosystems. These works will be exhibited in a group show titled NURTURE at the Virginia Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA) in Virginia Beach from February 6th - June 15th, 2021. Through my contribution to this art exhibition I hope to raise awareness and provide vital funding to preserve the Chesapeake Bay. Please help me reach my goal and make a donation to my Chesapeake Bay Foundation BayRaiser page or share this page with a friend. The Bay needs our support and your contributions will make an impact.
- $10 can add 1,000 juvenile oysters to our waterways
- $25 can plant five native trees as a streamside buffer
- $75 can send a student for a day of learning on the Bay
CBF is funded mostly by individual donors like you and me. Donations large and small help support CBF's on-the-water field experiences for students and teachers, tree plantings, oyster restoration, advocacy for stronger laws protecting the Bay, and litigation against polluters when necessary.
Together we can SAVE THE BAY!
