Healthy You, Healthy Bay
During this time of uncertainty and the COVID-19 pandemic, our mission of saving the Bay remains our unwavering focus. As we continue to navigate the challenges, we are also presented with an unprecedented opportunity: to explore new ways to connect to one another and the remarkable ecosystem we are working to defend. And we cannot do that alone!
Create or join a virtual team and commit to walking a combined 200 miles, the approximate length of the Chesapeake Bay. Invite friends and family to support your efforts and help raise funds that will continue our mission to save the Bay. Registration is free, and we will provide fundraising support, nature guides, pop-up challenges, and Bay-saving tips along the way. If you are participating as an individual, set a walking goal that fits your lifestyle.
For more than half a century, the ChesapeakeBay Foundation has led a landmark effort to save the Chesapeake Bay—a national treasure on which the health and wellbeing of nearly 18 million people and 3,000 species of plants and animals throughout the Chesapeake Bay Watershed depend. We educate tens of thousands of people each year, advocate for better public policy, hold governments and polluters accountable, while performing essential hands-on restoration.
With the support of people like you who understand and value the vital relationship between water quality and quality of life, we won't just Save the Bay®, we will keep it saved.

Participation is free, but we encourage all walkers to set a fundraising goal of $150. Every dollar raised goes directly towards our restoration and education efforts throughout the watershed. Hannon Armstrong has pledged to match all donations up to $20,000!
All individuals who raise $150 are eligible to receive a Walk the Watershed t-shirt!
Set walking goals that fit your lifestyle and health needs—remember, every step counts. Track your team progress and personal progress with the CBF Mile Tracker located in the Participant Center. Once registered, you can enter your miles as frequently as you'd like, whether it is daily or weekly. Each participant’s miles will automatically roll up into their overall team's miles.
Update your Personal Page and share why CBF is important to you! The more personal your page, the more connected your supports will feel to your mission.
Small updates to your page make a big difference—walkers who upload their own image and story are 5 times more likely to hit their fundraising goal!
Share your participation on social media, text messages, email, etc. Your personal page links directly to your Facebook. This will help spread your message and hit your goals. Make sure to tag the Chesapeake Bay Foundation in your posts and use the hashtag #WalktheWatershed
