Welcome to our Chesapeake Bay Foundation Walk the Watershed page.
My name is Hannah Fox and I am one of the presidents of the Whitman Bay Conservation Club, which is an environmental club at Walt Whitman High School dedicated to preserving the Bay through advocacy, action, and awareness efforts.
Over the next few weeks, we will raise awareness and vital funding towards CBF’s mission to save the Bay. Every dollar raised supports restoration and education efforts across the watershed. This important work provides a stable ecosystem for the 18 million people and 3,000 species of plants and animals throughout the watershed.
Here's why the Chesapeake Bay is important to Whitman students
Emily: My name is Emily and my brother and I grew up next to a creek that eventually fed into the Chesapeake Bay. This creek was so instrumental to our childhood and we have so many cherished memories splashing in the water and finding amazing wildlife like a turtle, some toads, and even some snakes! The Chesapeake Bay and its watershed is a place to spend time with friends and family, learn about our important role in our environment, and foster curiosity and growth. I helped start the Whitman Bay Conservation Club to help preserve the Bay and fight for climate solutions. Please donate to CBF and support saving a national treasure so that future generations can have the same opportunities to find joy in nature that my brother and I had!
Sarah: My name is Sarah O'Donnell and I've lived all over the world. I've seen the countries that have been the worst affected by the climate crisis. I know that the Chesapeake Bay is in the US, but sometimes the smallest things can have a domino effect. And if we don't help save the bay, we won't be able to save the world. Because everything on this planet matters, and it's our home. We need to save it before it's too late.
Hannah: My name is Hannah Fox and I’ve gone to the Chesapeake Bay nearly every summer and love spending time there. Besides being critical to the Maryland ecosystem, the Chesapeake Bay is a place to spend time with friends and family and enjoy the hikes, wildlife, views, water, and more. I've also experienced first-hand the effects of climate disasters. Having lived in Florida and Puerto Rico, I know what severe hurricanes and flooding can do to a community. I started the Whitman Bay Conservation Club to help preserve the Bay and fight for climate solutions. Please donate to CBF and support saving a national treasure.
I hope you will support these efforts by donating to our page or by joining our team. Together we will take steps towards clean air, clean water, and sustainable resources for all. A healthy Bay means a healthy community.
