Seven Tips to Success

  1. Update your personal page: Connect people to your unique reasons for joining the movement. Updating your personal page will make you five times more likely to hit your goal!
  2. Make a self-donation: Share your commitment! The first donation is very important and those that make a self-donation are 30% more likely to hit their goal!
  3. ASK: If you don't ask, no one can say yes! Grow your team or grow your donations. Think about friends, family, local gym, youth sports teams, and others. Here are five ways to $100:
    • Give up coffee for a week and donate your savings
    • Ask five friends for $10
    • Ask five local businesses for $10
    • Host a pay-what-you-can virtual happy-hour with ten coworkers
    • Set up a lemonade stand and donate your earnings
  4. Share progress: Did you hit a milestone with your walk or with your fundraising? Share your success on social media and link your Personal Page. Don't forget to tag #WalktheWatershed
  5. Share the mission: We all need clean water! CBF is the largest independent conservation organization dedicated solely to saving the Bay. Our motto, "Save the Bay," is a regional rallying cry for pollution reduction throughout the Chesapeake's six-state, 64,000-square-mile watershed, which is home to more than 18 million people and 3,000 species of plants and animals. For more information on our work and your impact, visit cbf.org.
  6. Share impact: Each donation can go a long way and our combined power can make a huge impact.

Your Impact: What Can Your Fundraiser Do?

$25 can plant five native trees as a streamside buffer
$50 can grow 5,000 native oysters to plant in the watershed
$75 can send a student for a day of learning in and around the Bay
$100 can build two reef balls to use as oyster habitat
  7. Workplace giving: Does your employer match donations made by their employees? Encourage your supporters to see what is available to them.
