It has been a few years since I've lived in the Chesapeake Bay watershed, but I can't seem to get the Bay out of my system. And so, even from far away in Vermont, I am putting a little time into supporting the Chesapeake Bay Foundation, in its efforts to preserve one of the most beautiful and sensitive places on the East Coast. I hope that in years to come there will still be crabs and rockfish for folks to enjoy, as well as the scenery.
I plan to walk (with my dog, Rosie) and bike a distance equal to half the length of the Bay watershed, 100 miles, in the next month. Any pledges will help me to reach my modest goal of raising $150 by mid-May. How about a dime or maybe a quarter per mile? Want to walk with us? We'd love the company.
Every dollar raised supports restoration and education efforts across the watershed. This important work provides a stable ecosystem for the 18 million people and 3,000 species of plants and animals throughout the watershed.
I hope you will support these efforts by donating to my page or by joining my team. Together we will take steps towards clean air, clean water, and sustainable resources for all. A healthy Bay means a healthy community.
Every gift makes a difference!
· $25 can plant five native trees as a streamside buffer.
· $50 can grow 5,000 native oysters.
· $140 can send two students for a day of learning in and around the Bay.
· $500 can build 10 reef balls which are effective and safe artificial homes for oysters.
Please donate on my page today and help me meet my fundraising goal and help CBF.
Thank you in advance for helping to Save the Bay!
